Duties and Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform in-depth chip-level diagnosis and repair of laptop, desktop, and workstation motherboards.
  • Use CRO (Cathode Ray Oscilloscope) for analyzing signal integrity, clock signals, and waveform abnormalities.
  • Utilize BIOS programmers (e.g., RT809H, EZP2019, CH341A) for BIOS reprogramming, recovery, and firmware upgrades.
  • Replace defective components, including chipsets, GPUs, MOSFETs, controllers, capacitors, and other SMD/BGA parts.
  • Analyze and resolve power-related faults, short circuits, signal interruptions, and boot issues.
  • Interpret and troubleshoot using motherboard schematics and board-view files (e.g., FlexBV, OpenBoardView).
  • Conduct thermal diagnostics, power consumption analysis, and final validation testing.
  • Maintain detailed logs of repair findings, part replacements, CRO readings, and resolution techniques.
  • Handle escalated cases from L1 and L2 engineers and provide technical guidance when required.
  • Follow ESD-safe procedures and ensure compliance with quality standards throughout the repair process.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • 3–6 years of experience in L3-level chip/component-level repairs on a wide range of motherboard types.
  • Strong hands-on experience with CRO and knowledge of waveform analysis.
  • Expertise in BIOS chip programming and embedded firmware handling.
  • Skilled in soldering and desoldering BGA, QFN, and SMD components using hot air rework stations and microscopes.
  • Proficient in reading and analyzing motherboard schematics and signal diagrams.
  • Familiarity with motherboards from major OEMs (e.g., HP, Dell, Lenovo).

Preferred Skills:

  • Knowledge of PCIe, SATA, VRM, and other board-level protocols.
  • Experience in refurbishing and rebuilding hardware for RMA or redeployment.
  • Understanding of firmware-level security and hardware-embedded protections.
